Flower Clouds

Standing at an impressive 5 meters, FLOWER CLOUDS is a meticulously handcrafted light installation crafted from vibrant cellophane sheets and delicate wire, designed for the Awakening Bangkok 2023 Lighting event in Thailand. This striking artwork has been thoughtfully positioned within the historic Pak Khlong Talat area, renowned for its significance as Bangkok’s premier flower market, where blossoms carry deep cultural meanings and personal memories for countless visitors.

The intention behind FLOWER CLOUDS is to rekindle a sensory connection between the public and this cherished locale, evoking the nuanced relationship between individuals and flowers. Just as memories of loved ones may dissipate like clouds, the installation's vivid hues offer a lasting invitation to reflect on the past, making nostalgia tangible.

Crafted from layers of cellophane paper and silhouettes of wooden boards, the flower ornaments are suspended at varying heights, creating an engaging visual hierarchy. Spotlights illuminate the transparent color sheets, casting layered shadows and producing a brilliant array of colors that dance upon the white floor below. The integration of smoke machines envelops the installation in an ethereal haze, heightening the sensory experience and adding an element of intrigue.

Viewers are treated to a striking contrast between perspectives. From below, the installation offers an enchanting visual interplay of light and shadow that captivates the ground-level observer.
